Our Members

We are the blood descendants, relatives and
friends of the union between the Emmanuel
Johnson and Rosalie Bailey, former slaves who
lived in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana before the
Civil War. Our group has been gathering since
1991, holding family reunions in an effort to
keep family and friends connected. Our tag line
is: Family Binds Together.

Biennial Reunions

Following our 2000 reunion in New Orleans,
we decided to meet every two years in New
Iberia, our ancestral homestead. Excursions
like our 2006 Western Caribbean Cruise are
planned four years out to satisfy members
desirous to venture away from New Iberia in
conjunction with our biennial reunions. There
is a little something for everyone, plus we are
always open to new ideas and adventures.

Name Change & Publications

In 2005, after a number of genealogical
discoveries, we changed our name from the
Mamie Living Memorial Reunion (MLMR) to the
Johnson + Bailey Family* Reunion, to include
more descendants, relatives and friends. In
addition to publishing this website, our first
family tree book was published in 2008,
followed by our cookbook in 2010.

Seven families attended
the first reunion in Las
Vegas, NV from July 3-6.

Ten families attended the
second reunion in New
Orleans, LA, August 3-6.

Over 24 families attended
the homecoming reunion
in New Iberia, LA, July 5-7,
and assumed the name:
Mamie Living Memorial
Reunion.

Fifty-one relatives and
friends gathered for the
fourth reunion on July 2-4,
in New Iberia, LA.

The next reunion and
cruise were canceled in
part to Hurricane Katrina.
